Critical Path Chain 2 Permitting

The AS2 preparation phase (151 days, starting 29 Dec 2026) is the longest compressible activity on the critical path. The 250-day MNR approval period is externally fixed. Any reduction in the preparation phase directly advances First Gold by the same margin. Recommend mobilising the preparation team before 29 Dec 2026 to begin data gathering in parallel with the Aggregate Resource Investigation (A6550), which completes 28 Dec 2026. Even a 23 week overlap shaves the same off First Gold.

Potential gain: 26 weeks on First Gold if preparation starts partially before 29 Dec 2026.

Introduce discipline overlap in Grinding construction (Chain 6)

Critical Path Chain 6 Construction

Grinding is 659 days of fully sequential Civil → Concrete → SMP → Electrical & Instrumentation. The SMP phase alone is 360 days. In practice, early SMP work (pipe supports, cable tray, structural installation) can begin while concrete curing is in progress. Similarly, E&I pre-installation can start while SMP is completing. Each discipline handover overlap of 23 weeks = 23 weeks off First Gold. Requires Ausenco to model sequencing in Primavera.

Phase 2A (Birch River Cross to Intersection, 30d) and Phase 2B (Intersection to Mine Site, 120d) are currently sequential. If separate crews can mobilise simultaneously on different road segments particularly where the two sections do not physically depend on each other the combined duration could be reduced from 150 days toward 120 days. Requires review of contractor resource availability and road segment dependency.

Potential gain: 24 weeks on camp readiness and earthworks start.

Monitor and protect near-critical CDF design chain (86d float)

Near-Critical CDF & Dikes 86d float

The CDF Design and Analyses (A5810, 120d) and CDF Feasibility Study Report (A6120, 30d) sit at 86 days of float. They are fed by the CDF Optimization and Deposition Plan (A5790, 30d, starting Jan 2027). If any upstream Hydrology or Geochemical Assessment input slips, this chain goes critical and directly impacts the FS completion milestone (2 Jul 2027). Monthly float tracking is recommended flag if this chain drops below 60d.

Risk mitigation: preserve 86d buffer; any loss in this chain converts to direct schedule risk.

Co-ordinate Lakes & Rivers and In-Water Works permit preparation

Near-Critical Permitting 86d float

Both the Work Permit (Lakes & Rivers Impr. Act, MNR) and the Approval of In-Water Works (MNR) run 379 days each with 86d float, starting 5 Jul 2027. Their preparation phases (129d each) are parallel and could share a single legal/regulatory preparation team, reducing overhead and ensuring both applications are submitted on the same date (30 Dec 2027). If either submission is delayed, the parallel permit chains collapse into the critical path with only 86d of buffer remaining.

Risk mitigation: shared preparation reduces cost and protects 86d float on both chains.
